Please join us for an informal, off-the-record discussion of the Busan Joint Action Plan for Gender Equality and Development

March 7, 2012 | Oxfam America | Washington, DC

4:30pm, Oxfam America, 1100 15th St NW, Suite 600 Washington, DC 20005

Special Guests Include:
Kathryn Franko, US State Department
Roselynn Musa, African Women's Development and Communication Network (FEMNET)

Last November in Busan, South Korea, politicians and global development stakeholders agreed to new commitments to change the way they deliver aid. The Joint Action Plan for Gender Equality and Development, launched by Secretary Clinton at Busan, captures commitments to gender equality and women’s empowerment made at Busan, and identifies actions to improve foreign assistance to achieve inclusive and sustainable development. The plan commits to accelerating a results-focused agenda that will promote greater gender equality and women’s empowerment, addressing the factors underlying women’s lower economic, political and social status. This requires accurate information, rigorous analysis, coordinated action, partnerships, improved capacity, investment and monitoring of gender equality commitments.

Since Busan, the US Government has been engaging global civil society on how to move forward with Joint Action Plan implementation. Please join us for a discussion on the content of the Joint Action Plan, as well as updates on progress towards implementation from two experts deeply involved in the process from both the USG and global civil society perspective.

Please RSVP to Amy Polglase at Oxfam apolglase@oxfamamerica.org.

Sincerely,

The Aid Effectiveness Team
