Dear All,

Please join us next Wednesday, November 2nd at noon in the Board Room for a conversation with Lori Mason as she discusses her research and work on honor killings and women in Kurdistan.

In preparation for the conversation, please take a few minutes to view Lori’s short piece she wrote for a newspaper in Kurdistan that focuses on several themes we will discuss (see: attached).

In addition to the article, feel free to review the following websites:

a.       http://www.kwrw.org/kwahk/

b.      http://www.kwrw.org/ (Lori mentioned that the roundup of news stories/accounts of violence here is very revealing)

c.       http://www.stophonourkillings.com/?q=taxonomy/term/48

Finally, please view this YouTube documentary for additional background on women in Iraq and Kurdistan:

During the salon we hope to flesh out the nuances of women’s and men’s roles in honor killings throughout the region of the Arab world.

We look forward to a lively discussion.

Thank you,

Michelle
