To commemorate International Women's Day, The Asia Foundation is pleased to invite you to attend a panel discussion on "Women's Changing Roles in Asia." Four prominent experts from Asia will discuss critical issues facing women in Asia today: gender equality and local governance, women in conflict resolution, women’s entrepreneurship, and women and Islam. Featured speakers will include: Dr. Hetifah Syaifudian Siswanda, Member of Parliament in Indonesia The Honorable Sapana Pradhan Malla, Member of Parliament in Nepal and Gender Advisor to the Prime Minister Ms. Seng Takakneary, President of the Cambodian Women's Entrepreneurship AssociationMr. Shahabuddin Khan, Managing Director of the Imam Training Academy in Bangladesh (to be confirmed)
The Asia Foundation's Women's Empowerment Program develops women's leadership, increases women's rights and creates new political and economic opportunities for women across the Asia-Pacific region. The Asian Perspectives Series, now in its 13th year, provides insight into Asian views on issues of importance to U.S. policy-makers, business, and non-government leaders, and helps to broaden discussions for the Washington, D.C. policy community. Breakfast will be served.
